This is an example of an editorial illustration, and the type of illustration I’m looking to do more of. This illustration is available for licensing for any kind of article or blog that speaks on the issue of lost liberties or anything along those lines. Please inquire separately.
However, this just also happened to be a class demo, as we focused on how to create an illustration through the ideation process, starting with a word association list, and then working our way through thumbnails and ultimately the final illustration. I’m including a peek at some of that process. This was also a limited palette illustration, with the two colors being: cobalt green and yellow. (It was called cobalt green on the tube, but as you can see, it still looks pretty blue.) Black and white were added to enhance values.
I hope you enjoyed this piece. If you want to see more of my editorial type work, head over to my portfolio: “Looks”
